@Ann, it looks as though the race brought chaos to London and Surrey as more than 1000 roads were closed. Sky news is saying there will be a review into the London 2012 Olympics cycle road race – see the report on Sky news http://t.co/PUOX0N4

We have had a few problems with the cycle race today.

We were not advised officially, but were told by a neighbour. My daughter had to work, and therefore had to sleep at a friend’s house. We were told that the roads in Weybridge would reopen at 12.15 pm. When we tried to drive out, the marshall said not until 3.00 pm. We later discovered that the roads reopened soon after we had tried to leave.

The marshalls did not appear to have much information. Am not sure if they had phones or radios. The disruption caused by the race does not warrant holding it again in 2012. Surely there is a large race track somewhere which can be used. Or arrangements for cars to cross the roads at times. I live in Surrey, and if we can afford it, we shall leave next year while the Olympics are on, and watch the sports on TV. Being imprisoned for an unknown lengh of time is most unpleasant.

I am really pleased Whitby Abbey won most romantic ruin. The Abbey itself is magnificent, but coupled with the breathtaking views from the cliff top, makes it a truly remarkable place. Last week Whitby hosted another popular Goth Weekend, the town was filled with visitors of all ages in their elaborate and beautiful costumes. Both the Abbey and East cliff were very popular destination.

The pudding race is very interesting…Contestants run wearing fancy dresses and masks and looks funnier when they cross different hurdles.
