Chester Zoo unveils £225 million expansion plan
Friday, January 30, 2009 13:14Chester Zoo has just unveiled an amazing £225 million expansion plan that will see it become the largest conservation, animal and leisure facility in Europe.
The first phase of project ‘Natural Vision’ which, subject to planning permission, will include the development of a domed ecosystem – the only one in the UK – and a 90-bedroom hotel.
Set in 110 acres, Chester Zoo is home to more than 7000 animals from over 400 species, some of which are the most endangered on the planet, and welcomes 1.3 million people a year.
Chester Zoo will celebrate its 75th anniversary in May and is open every day except Christmas and Boxing Day.
