Want to surprise your Valentine this year? Well, forget the chocolates and flowers and book a romantic weekend in the Lake District.
According to a recent survey of more than 4,000 people by LateRooms, being taken away for Valentine’s Day is seen as the most romantic gesture.
Of those surveyed, 31% said that the most romantic UK destination was the Lake District, followed by the Cotswolds, voted for by 17% of respondents.
The Lake District is England’s largest National Park covering 885 square miles and has the most amazing, dramatic scenery. Scafell Pike, England’s highest mountain (978m), and Lake Windermere, England’s largest natural lake, are both situated in the Lake District National Park.
