Blackpool Illuminations switch on tonight

The famous Blackpool Illuminations will be switched on tonight by comedian Alan Carr.
In the build-up to the switch-on there’s a free concert available on a first come first served basis. No tickets are required but it’s advisable to get there early. Gates open at 4pm with the concert starting at 6pm.
Hosting tonight’s concert will be Kate Thornton, performers will include: X Factor finalists JLS, Madness, Paloma Faith Pixie Lott and Tony Christie.
Tonight’s switch-on will be at 9.25pm with lights out at 2am.
The Blackpool illuminations stretche for nearly six miles from Starr Gate to Bispham and will be on nightly from 4 September to 8 November 2009.
