From Friday, 3 December 2010, the popular Barclays Cycle Hire scheme in London is expanding its cycle hire to casual users.
From Friday, anyone with a Visa or MasterCard credit or debit car will be able to hire a bike – be aware the scheme doesn’t accept Maestro, Amex, Diners or JCB
In order to hire a bike just go to a bike docking station, follow the instructions to release a bike. Bikes are available 24/7 – with the first 30 minutes free.
The casual user agreement is different to the membership scheme – UK residents can start using the cycle hire scheme as a member for just £4 – the cost of buying the membership key (£3) and their first 24-hour access period (£1). Currently the scheme has more than 100,000 members who have already made over 1.7 million journeys.
