Pontin’s goes into administration

Holiday park company Pontin’s has gone into administration.

The company, which owns five holiday sites: Brean Sands in Somerset, Camber Sands in Sussex, Pakefield in Suffolk, Prestatyn Sands in Wales and Southport in Merseyside, continues to operate while KPMG, the appointed administrator, looks for a new owner.

In it’s guest announcement on the Pontin’s site, the company states:

Guests who have bookings for the future are assured that the business will continue to trade and their holiday will not be affected. There is, therefore, no reason to cancel and there will not be any refunds if anyone wishes to do so. However, if anyone wishes to transfer their booking to another Park within the group, this can be arranged by calling 0844 576 5943.

Pontin’s was bought by Oceans Park in 2008 for £46 million and, in February 2009, it announced a £50 million redevelopment of its sites.
