British Museum is Britain’s most popular tourist attraction
Monday, March 2, 2009 22:05The British Museum is officially Britain’s most popular tourist attraction according to data just published by the Association of Leading Visitor Attractions (ALVA).
The British Museum welcomed 5,932,897guests in 2008, a 9.5% increase on 2007. In fact, London visitor attractions fared really well in the ALVA survey – the top 12 places featured London tourist attractions.
Top London attractions were:
British Museum
Tate Modern
The National Gallery
Natural History Museum
Science Museum
Tower of London
Victoria and Albert Museum
National Maritime Museum
National Portrait Gallery
St Paul’s Cathedral
Tate Britain
Westminster Abbey
Outside London, the top English attractions were:
Chester Zoo
The Eden Project
Tate Liverpool, which saw a massive 67% increase on 2007 – 2007 saw Liverpool become European Capital of Culture
Top Scottish attractions:
Kelvingrove Art Gallery & Museum
Edinburgh Castle
National Gallery Complex
Top Welsh attractions:
St Fagans National History Museum
National Waterfront Museum
Big Pit
ALVA has 42 members, which manage 1,598 of Britain’s biggest and most famous tourist attractions and handle more than 100 million visitors per year.

there are many tourists attractions to choose from, the only problem that we have is the money to spend to see most of them :
